![]() Also if using VMotion you would want to dedicate a NIC port to that. I usually team 2 or 3 ports together for the production VM's, leave 1 port for management, and if using iSCSI or NFS I dedicate a port to that.ĮDIT: The NIC dedicated to iSCSI of NFS would be the one you want to enable jumbo frames on. Most of my VMware servers have at least 4 ports, some 6. ![]() Is he correct? Should i install quad NICs in each of the servers to increase efficiency? Thanks I'll have about 12 VMs running on the md3200 with 5 servers proving the horsepower. Does that mean I do not need to configure the firewall for jumbo frames or separate VLANs since i am doing everything within the same switch?Īlso, the dell tech told me i should have more than two ports on the servers to maximize throughput. But if I read you correctly I should do one port of the servers also. I isolated 8-ports for the md3200 into a separate vlan already. I am using Netgear Smart Switches (GS748T) in all legs of the network.
